Offshore Welding Supervisor

About the role

The project seeks an experienced Offshore Welding Supervisor to lead all welding activities during the EPC phase of a SURF project. The role is rotational offshore (35 days on / 35 days off) and requires close coordination with contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the focal point for welding activities, ensuring deliverables align with design and installation‑engineering results.
• Review and approve contractor documentation, procedures, Inspection and Test Plans, and monitor their implementation.
• Continuously assess welder performance, qualifications and equipment calibration, and challenge contractors on QA/QC performance.
• Inspect work daily, stop non‑conformities, and report anomalies to the Site Representative.
• Participate in daily meetings, identify opportunities to improve quality, productivity and project value, and support reporting to the Project Manager.

Required profile

• Engineer or Offshore Supervisor with at least 15 years of oil‑and‑gas experience, especially SURF activities.
• Strong construction background, excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Commitment to safety, environmental standards and strong organisational abilities.
• Fluent spoken and written English.

Required skills

• IWI‑C or IWE welding certification.
• Experience as an onboard welding specialist on rigid‑lay, PLSV or J‑lay pipelay vessels.
• Proficiency with Alloy 625 clad‑pipe, Inconel welding and automatic welding technologies.
• Knowledge of 2G and 5G welding positions and fatigue‑sensitive weld requirements.
• Mandatory offshore certifications: BOSIET/T‑BOSIET/FOET, Cause Tree Analysis, Golden Rules, OGUK fitness‑to‑work, Seaman’s book, CA‑EBS OPITO.
