HSEQ Officer

About the role

The Kersten Training Academy is looking for a dedicated HSEQ Officer to support health, safety, environmental and quality initiatives across its operations. You will work closely with staff, learners and contractors to ensure compliance with international standards and promote a safe learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the HSEQ-C department head in implementing and maintaining the HSEQ management system.
• Monitor compliance with international standards and conduct emergency response drills.
• Deliver safety inductions and training to new employees and contractors.
• Implement corrective actions from audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
• Organise HSE committee meetings, awareness sessions and maintain risk registers.
• Investigate accidents, compile monthly statistics and near‑miss reports.
• Maintain equipment certification logs and review departmental checklists.
• Conduct annual gap analyses and update the legal register.
• Evaluate suppliers and keep approved supplier logs current.
• Support medical case handling for learners and assist in updating training programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Health, Safety, Environment or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in an HSEQ or similar role.
• Certified Internal Auditor.
• Strong analytical, negotiating and communication abilities.
• Administrative experience is an asset.
