Superintendent Housing & Laundry

About the role

The Superintendent Housing & Laundry leads the delivery of safe, efficient and cost‑effective housing and laundry services for resident personnel at Newmont’s Merian operation in Suriname. This senior position ensures that camp facilities support daily operations and meet the company’s standards for quality, safety and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate procurement and inventory management for housing and laundry supplies.
• Develop, monitor and report on the housing and laundry budget, controlling expenses and optimizing logistics.
• Implement and audit safety protocols, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards.
• Lead and mentor housing and laundry staff, enforcing policies and service standards.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts and oversee performance throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Conduct regular facility audits, identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions.
• Prepare technical, financial and KPI reports for senior management.
• Support emergency response planning for camp residents, maintaining up‑to‑date contingency plans.

Required profile

• Background in civil engineering, industrial engineering, business administration or a related field.
• Experience in managing large‑scale housing, laundry or camp operations, preferably in a mining or remote‑site environment.
• Strong understanding of procurement, supply‑chain and contract management processes.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive continuous improvement.
