Senior Fabrication Method Engineer

About the role

Saipem, a global leader in engineering and construction for the energy and infrastructure sectors, is hiring a Senior Fabrication Method Engineer for Project B58 Gran Morgu in Paramaribo, Suriname. The role covers the development of fabrication and erection procedures, lifting and handling calculations, and support of yard erection activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop fabrication procedures and define operations for structural component integrity during lifting, handling, weighing, load-out and ballasting; issue the corresponding calculations and procedures
• Support yard erection activities and provide assistance as needed
• Support bidding and project start-up in defining erection methods, sequences and layout, and take part in the Detail Engineering phase
• Prepare the fabrication plan and identify field-critical planning issues
• Define and finalize systems details for transport and transfer inside and outside the yard, and prepare calculation reports for every lifting operation
• Define the scope of work for structural studies and prepare procedures for heavy lifts, roll-ups, weighing and load-out
• Take part in critical operations such as heavy lifts, roll-ups, weighing and load-out
• Select barges, marine transport conditions, grillage and seafastening according to certification body requirements, and ensure interfaces with certification authorities, the client engineering and head office engineering departments
• Check technical documentation from Head Office and clients and analyse the feasibility of construction works regarding on-site availability of facilities, tools, documents and materials
• Interface with the construction team (HSE, quality control, prefabrication and erection) and help prepare the HSE plan for critical operations

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a Fabrication Method Engineer in the oil and gas industry
• English language skills
