Software Architect – AWS & Node.js (Remote, LATAM)

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a senior Software Architect to join its rapidly expanding team. This remote position serves clients across the United States and Latin America, focusing on designing high‑performance, low‑latency services on AWS using Node.js and TypeScript.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, low‑latency service architectures on AWS, including the use of queues, caches, and search projections.
• Define explicit latency budgets (p95/p99) and ensure synchronous durable commits for hot paths.
• Architect audit and evidence systems such as append‑only event logs and deterministic historical replay.
• Create secure multi‑tenant environments, evaluating trade‑offs between RLS, schema‑per‑tenant, and database‑per‑tenant approaches.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and SDK integrations for external services.
• Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical decision records (ADRs).
• Lead technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and mentor engineering teams.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in an architecture‑focused role.
• Proven experience designing low‑latency, high‑throughput systems on AWS.
• Strong background in secure multi‑tenant design and PostgreSQL/AuroraDB data modeling.
• Ability to present and defend architectural decisions to clients and security reviewers.
