Team Lead, Logistics

About the role

We are looking for a Team Lead, Logistics to support the Transportation and Logistics Regional Manager at Newmont Suriname’s Merian Project. The role will drive the implementation of Newmont’s transportation and logistics strategy, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant movement of goods at the site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all site logistics activities, including import and export operations, ensuring compliance with local and international customs regulations and Newmont Global Trade Compliance standards.
• Plan, execute and monitor transportation across all modes, managing contractors and modal execution to achieve cost‑optimal and safe delivery.
• Develop, track and report logistics KPIs such as cost, service levels, transit times and supply‑chain impact.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement continuous‑improvement and cost‑saving projects.
• Manage export operations for site products and by‑products, and oversee import processes, ensuring accurate customs declarations.
• Maintain functional knowledge of customs systems, particularly ASYCUDA, to support compliant customs processes.
• Analyze market conditions, pricing, capacity and technology solutions to inform logistics decisions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading logistics teams in a mining or industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures and risk management.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and external partners to drive operational excellence.
• Excellent analytical skills to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
