Social Performance Project Lead

About the role

The Social Performance Project Lead will be based in Paramaribo and will oversee construction projects across multiple PSC blocks in Suriname, ensuring compliance with social, health, safety and environmental standards while engaging local communities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare contract and procurement documents for construction projects, including tender documentation, technical evaluation of bids and recommendations for contract awards.
• Manage and supervise execution of construction contracts, tracking expenditures and ensuring timely mobilization of personnel and equipment.
• Oversee day‑to‑day contractor operations, ensuring adherence to specifications, standards, HSE conditions and local regulations.
• Conduct audits of pre‑site conditions, maintain architectural and structural drawings, and attend contractor site meetings and toolbox talks.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagements, collect community concerns related to construction activities and keep the Borealis tool updated with feedback.
• Report changes in scope, safety incidents and compliance matters to the Social Performance Lead and relevant authorities.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Social Performance, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in construction supervision, civil infrastructure and community‑focused projects.
• Strong knowledge of applicable HSE standards and OSHAS.
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and handle contract administration, QA/QC, estimating and reporting.
• Fluency in Dutch, English and Sranang Tongo.
