HR Advisor – Employee Engagement & Labor Relations

About the role

The HR Advisor, Employee Engagement & Labor Relations will support Rosebel Gold Mines by fostering constructive relationships between management, the union and employees. You will handle grievances, conduct investigations, advise on labor legislation and ensure compliance with company policies while working on a rotational schedule at the Brokopondo site.

Key responsibilities

• Promote sound labor relations with the union and advise on corrective and preventive actions.
• Investigate and evaluate union or employee complaints to determine viability.
• Handle disciplinary matters in line with the Collective Labor Agreement (CLA) and local legislation.
• Assist in negotiating collective bargaining agreements.
• Analyze staff absences, provide recommendations, and represent the company at dismissal board hearings and Ministry of Labor meetings.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legal requirements, partner with the legal department, and provide HR policy guidance.
• Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues through thorough, objective investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in labor law or human resources management.
• Minimum five years of labor‑relations experience in a unionised environment.
• Strong understanding of employment legislation, collective agreements and conflict‑resolution processes.
• Professionalism, discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
• Fluent written and verbal communication in Dutch and English; Mandarin is an asset.
• Willingness to work onsite in Brokopondo on a 5‑day work, 2‑day off rotational schedule.
• Ability to provide a Police Clearance Certificate upon selection.
