Communication Consultant

About the role

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group is seeking a strategic, creative, and adaptable Communication Consultant to support its Suriname Country Office. You will help strengthen the IDB’s visibility and positioning as a trusted partner for sustainable development across the Caribbean.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic communications advice to the Country Representative and management team, ensuring alignment with IDB policies and approval processes.
• Develop, implement, and monitor the annual communications work plan in line with country, regional, and institutional priorities.
• Design and execute visibility initiatives that showcase the development impact of IDB operations, partnerships, and knowledge products.
• Support priority public and private events, ensuring compliance with messaging, brand standards, and visual identity guidelines.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with media contacts and key stakeholders, coordinating press briefings, interviews, and media placements.
• Draft and coordinate clearance of press releases, media responses, talking points, and other communications materials.
• Monitor media coverage and public conversations to identify reputational risks and communication opportunities.
• Develop, adapt, and edit communications products such as presentations, stories, newsletters, web content, and event briefs.
• Generate and coordinate engaging social‑media content.

Required profile

• Strategic mindset with strong creative and adaptable capabilities.
• Experience providing communications support in an international or development context.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government, private sector, civil society, donors, academia, and influencers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
