Advisory Board Member – Banking & Investment

About the role

The Suriname Investment Platform (SIP) is seeking a senior‑level Advisory Board Member to provide independent strategic guidance on banking and investment matters. The role is purely advisory, with no operational duties, and the Board meets four times a year in a hybrid format (online and, when possible, in person).

Key responsibilities

• Assess the financial viability and bankability of potential projects.
• Advise on appropriate financing and capital structures, including debt, equity and blended‑finance solutions.
• Identify investment risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Interpret investor requirements and expectations to align project proposals.
• Lead due‑diligence processes and evaluate investment‑readiness.
• Facilitate engagement with banks, financial institutions and institutional investors.
• Ensure projects meet international standards for investability.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in banking, investment, project finance or capital structuring.
• Background in senior management, investment committees, boards or advisory capacities.
• Ability to evaluate opportunities from both financial and strategic perspectives.
• Independent judgment with a track record of constructive challenge.
• Familiarity with institutional investor expectations and emerging‑market transactions.
• Commitment to sustainable economic development in Suriname.
