Wellsite Geologist

About the role

Brunel is seeking an experienced Wellsite Geologist for an offshore drilling project in Suriname on a 2‑year contract. The role involves supervising geological operations on the rig, collaborating closely with subsurface and offshore operational teams to ensure safe, timely, and budget‑compliant drilling.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and interpret geological data acquisition at the rig site.
• Monitor well operations and acquisition programs.
• Coordinate and supervise geoscience service companies, crews, and equipment.
• Perform real‑time data QA/QC and basic real‑time interpretation.
• Conduct post‑well analysis.
• Identify potential drilling hazards in real time.
• Ensure security and integrity of well data acquisition.
• Supervise services including Mud Logging, M‑LWD, E‑Logging and Coring.

Required profile

• Experience in Operations Geology as a Wellsite Geologist.
• Onshore or offshore drilling experience, including deviated and/or horizontal complex wells.
• Certification in Subsurface Operations Geology.
• BTS (BAC+2) in Geology or higher with relevant Operations Geology experience.
• Fluent English with strong communication skills.
• Proactive approach to risk awareness and management.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and operational environment.
