Software Engineer – Elixir/Phoenix (Remote – Latin America)

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join its fast‑growing consultancy. You will work remotely from Latin America, collaborating with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high‑quality backend solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high‑performance backend systems and APIs using Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate product requirements into scalable services.
• Own features from conception through launch, including technical specifications, clean code, and release processes.
• Write unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and ensure a high‑quality codebase.
• Identify bottlenecks, fix bugs, and continuously improve performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Stay up‑to‑date with the latest trends and best practices in the Elixir ecosystem.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency with Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Experience with OTP, concurrent and distributed systems, and functional programming principles.
• Proven ability to design and build RESTful APIs (or GraphQL) and work with PostgreSQL via Ecto.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, agile mindset.
