Junior Tailings Engineer

About the role

Rosebel Gold Mines is looking for a Junior Tailings Engineer to support its Projects team. You will assist in the design, monitoring, and operation of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and related water‑management infrastructure, ensuring safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordinating, and improving TSFs, water‑management systems, and associated infrastructure.
• Conduct routine inspections, field observations, and monitoring of dams, pipelines, drainage systems, and instrumentation.
• Support data collection, analysis, and technical reporting for tailings facilities.
• Help implement engineering designs, deposition strategies, construction activities, and maintenance programs in collaboration with internal teams, consultants, and contractors.
• Prepare operational plans, budgets, forecasts, technical reports, and regulatory documentation for tailings management and minor capital projects.
• Research industry best practices, support new tailings technologies, and develop technical expertise in geotechnical monitoring.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or Civil Engineering.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in mining.
• Basic knowledge of technical computing systems and software.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule (14 days on, 7 days off) in Brokopondo.
• Good communication skills in Dutch and English.
