Internal Compliance Lead

About the role

The Internal Compliance Lead will oversee risk management, internal controls, compliance monitoring, and audit activities at Rosebel Gold Mines. The role ensures operational, financial, and regulatory risks are identified, assessed, and managed while driving continuous improvement of internal processes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct internal audits, compliance reviews, and control testing across departments.
• Plan and execute onsite audits and operational activity checks.
• Evaluate and strengthen internal controls to meet policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Review financial and operational processes for accuracy, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness.
• Identify risks, control weaknesses, and irregularities; develop and track corrective action plans.
• Support process improvements through audit insights, including redesign initiatives.
• Monitor audit findings, track remediation actions, and ensure timely implementation of recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external auditors during audits and investigations.
• Maintain compliance documentation, including work papers, reports, and investigation records.
• Perform SOX testing and anti‑corruption compliance checks (FCPA/ESTMA).
• Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to assess risk management effectiveness.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in auditing, compliance, internal controls, or risk management.
• Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and audit methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and documentation abilities.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule at the Brokopondo mine site (14 days on, 7 days off) and provide a Police Clearance Certificate.
