Dutch Language Specialist (Remote Contractor)

About the role

This hourly, remote contractor position involves working as a Dutch Language Specialist (SME) to review AI‑generated Dutch content and create high‑quality reference material. You will evaluate language quality, provide step‑by‑step reasoning, and deliver precise written feedback to improve AI outputs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training content: create prompts and gold‑standard Dutch answers across domains such as general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversational writing.
• Optimize AI performance: evaluate and rank AI outputs to enhance fluency, correctness, tone matching, and cultural appropriateness.
• Ensure model integrity: detect unsafe or misleading content, factual hallucinations, bias, and policy‑risk language, and validate reliability across use cases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Linguistics, Dutch/English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Native or near‑native Dutch proficiency (reading and writing) and strong English proficiency (minimum C1) for detailed feedback.
• 3+ years of professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or related language‑focused work.
• Deep understanding of Dutch grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style, with ability to explain errors and propose corrections.
• Comfortable handling variation between Netherlands Dutch and Belgian Dutch (Flemish) and specifying supported variant.
• High attention to detail, reliable, self‑directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in an hourly, remote workflow.
• Prior experience with AI data training/annotation, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric‑based evaluation is strongly preferred.
