Drill Operator II – Mining Production

About the role

The Drill Operator II joins Newmont Suriname’s Merian Project to safely and efficiently operate production and presplit drills. Working on a remote mining site, the operator ensures drill equipment is ready, follows blast‑hole patterns, and supports the overall drilling program.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily safety inspections of drill equipment and report any faults promptly.
• Operate assigned drill machines to drill blast holes to the specified depth and pattern.
• Read and interpret drill pattern instructions and Minestar displays.
• Maintain hole integrity for accurate sampling and manage consumable usage.
• Communicate status and hazards to the Drill and Blast Supervisor and incoming crews.
• Assist peers with safe operating procedures and participate in risk and hazard identification.

Required profile

• Intermediate experience operating mining drills and understanding of drilling processes.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and ask clarifying questions when needed.
• Commitment to safety and ability to work without endangering self or others.
• Good communication skills for handovers and reporting.
