Advisor, Exploration Drilling

About the role

The Advisor, Exploration Drilling provides specialised support to plan, coordinate and execute exploration drilling programmes safely and efficiently. The role ensures drilling activities meet project objectives while complying with regulatory, environmental and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Administer exploration drilling activities to achieve project goals.
• Monitor and evaluate drilling performance against safety and operational standards.
• Provide technical guidance to drilling team members to improve performance and cost efficiency.
• Coordinate with geologists and partners to align drilling programmes with exploration targets.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements and report non‑conformances.
• Monitor contractor performance, give feedback and verify contract adherence.
• Assess and report drilling data to support decision‑making and resource evaluation.
• Identify and implement continuous‑improvement opportunities for drilling efficiency and safety.
• Conduct site visits to inspect operations and provide on‑site support.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations on drilling progress and outcomes.

Required profile

• Knowledge of SAP for purchase requisitions, service entry sheets and invoice processing.
• Understanding of Newmont standards and procedures for exploration drilling.
• Basic knowledge of diamond drilling and reverse‑circulation methods.
• Familiarity with drilling safety standards, risk assessments and safe work practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and KPI tracking.
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI for performance dashboards.
• Strong skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word for presentations and technical documentation.
• Ability to review contractor invoices and prepare regular drilling performance reports.
• Good planning, organisational and communication abilities.
