Senior Laboratory Technician - Chemistry (Baroid)

About the role

Halliburton is hiring a Senior Laboratory Technician for its Baroid product service line in Paramaribo, Suriname. The role covers routine and non-routine laboratory testing under general direction, with emphasis on chemical hygiene and HSE laboratory safety standards. It is a full-time experienced hire.

Key responsibilities

• Perform assigned laboratory tests following procedures or selecting test equipment and instrumentation procedures; occasionally carry out non-routine prototype and laboratory testing.
• Operate laboratory and other equipment such as pumps and rig equipment, and may build or modify prototypes, models and special equipment.
• Repair, calibrate and maintain tools and equipment.
• Perform complex environmental tests using electrical, electronic, chemical and mechanical equipment, including set-up, calibration, troubleshooting, monitoring and data collection.
• Collect data, document test results and help prepare reports and other documentation.
• Maintain files and documentation related to test equipment.
• May train lower-level technicians.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Science, Geology, Petroleum Engineering or a similar discipline.
• At least 5 years of related laboratory testing experience.
• Knowledge of the chemical hygiene plan and current HSE laboratory safety standards.
• Laboratory experience with drilling fluids, preferably in a mud plant.
