Project Manager – Conservation Projects

About the role

Conservation International is seeking a Project Manager to lead three conservation projects in Suriname. The role oversees the full project cycle, from planning and budgeting to implementation, monitoring and reporting, ensuring alignment with donor agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed work plans, budgets and resource allocations for each project.
• Lead implementation, coordinate teams, partners and consultants, and ensure high‑quality delivery of activities.
• Monitor progress, risks and results, and produce regular reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage donor‑funded budgets, track expenditures and ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
• Recruit, onboard and supervise multidisciplinary project staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, International Development, Environmental or related field.
• 4–6 years of experience managing complex, donor‑funded projects in NGOs or international development.
• Proven ability to work with donors, government officials, Indigenous peoples and local communities.
• Fluency in English and strong stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common project‑management applications.
• Experience with Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks and results‑based project management.
