Mine Engineer – Mine Design & Planning

About the role

The Mine Engineer will coordinate mine design systems, programs, and processes to ensure that short‑ and long‑term plans are aligned with production goals while maintaining safety and efficiency at Rosebel Gold Mines.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare independent pit phase designs and short‑term mine plans.
• Integrate short‑term plans into long‑term LOM plans to avoid bottlenecks.
• Analyse and interpret plans to ensure alignment with operational objectives.
• Prepare monthly and weekly plans, adjusting approaches as needed.
• Supervise daily survey work, drilling, and blasting to prioritize planning goals.
• Monitor and control mining activities for compliance with plans and specifications.
• Prepare annual budgets and long‑term plans with construction and operational schedules.
• Research and recommend improvements in processes, technology, or methodology.
• Develop technical manuals, reports, and communication materials.
• Design drill patterns and conduct equipment studies to verify production targets.
• Coordinate production surveying and ensure pit designs are correctly implemented in the field.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in mining planning, preferably long‑term planning.
• Professional certification or licensure in geology or mine surveying is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Fluent in English and Dutch; Mandarin is an asset.
• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule (14 days on, 7 days off) at the Rosebel Gold Mines site.
• Ability to provide a Police Clearance Certificate.
