Heavy Duty Mechanic – Mining Equipment

About the role

The Heavy Duty Mechanic will maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar heavy‑duty mining equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on engines, transmissions, axles, hydraulics, brakes and air‑conditioning systems of haul trucks, shovels, dozers and loaders.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and electronic faults and carry out appropriate repairs.
• Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, greasing, filter replacement and component checks.
• Repair or replace defective components such as electrical controls, batteries, alternators, starters, wiring, hydraulic lines, drive shafts, differentials and computer‑controlled systems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders and document repair hours.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or secondary school certificate in Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, preferably in a mining environment.
• Strong knowledge of Caterpillar heavy‑duty mining equipment and its mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems.
• Ability to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days on site followed by 7 days off.
• Good communication skills in Dutch and English and willingness to provide a Police Clearance Certificate.
