Graduate Trainee – Rotational Development Program

About the role

Join Newmont’s two‑year rotational development program at the Merian open‑pit gold mine in Suriname. You will support safe operational activities and technical improvement projects while building the knowledge, skills and professional capabilities required in mining and industrial environments.

Key responsibilities

• Complete planned rotations within the assigned technical discipline to gain broad operational experience.
• Support operational, technical, engineering, business improvement and project initiatives.
• Collect, analyse, interpret and communicate technical and operational data.
• Participate in field activities to develop practical knowledge of mining processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, reliability, quality and cost performance.
• Prepare reports, presentations, recommendations and project updates.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in mining, metallurgical, chemical, process, mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, geosciences or a related field.
• Foundational understanding of health and safety principles, hazard identification and risk management.
• 0‑2 years of professional experience in a technical, engineering or operational role relevant to the field of study.

Required skills

• Foundational proficiency in applying technical and engineering principles to operational tasks.
• Ability to collect, analyse and interpret data using discipline‑relevant software, data‑analysis tools and Microsoft Office.
• Experience preparing technical reports and presenting findings clearly.
