Contract Engineer – Offshore Drilling & Marine Operations

About the role

We are looking for a Contract Engineer to support an outsourced contract for a major oil & gas company in Suriname. The role is a two‑year rotational assignment (6 weeks on / 3 weeks off) in an English‑speaking environment, with an anticipated start in October 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare tenders, evaluate bids with internal stakeholders, negotiate with bidders and issue contracts and purchase orders in line with company policies.
• Lead cross‑functional teams—including business users, finance, HSE, legal and contract owners—through the end‑to‑end sourcing process.
• Develop and implement procurement and contracting strategies for offshore drilling and marine operations, balancing cost optimisation and risk management.
• Conduct call‑for‑tenders, negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost efficiencies and manage supplier relationships, including KPI definition.
• Support long‑term procurement planning for drilling campaigns, logistics activities and commercial performance optimisation.

Required profile

• Advanced conversational English and a relevant higher‑education qualification.
• Proven experience drafting and negotiating contracts in the oil & gas sector, particularly for rigs, drilling, well services and marine logistics.
• Solid practical knowledge of procurement and contracting tools such as SAP, Ariba, Agora and Sequana.
• Understanding of procurement processes for drilling and well operations.
