Advisor, Environment Lab

About the role

The Environmental Lab Advisor will oversee the laboratory that supports Newmont’s Merian open‑pit gold operation in Suriname. You will ensure compliance with environmental regulations, maintain high‑quality testing standards, and provide technical support to both internal teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise environmental sampling and testing procedures.
• Administer laboratory compliance with all relevant environmental regulations.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
• Develop and execute laboratory quality‑control processes.
• Assess environmental data, prepare reports and deliver findings.
• Support laboratory personnel on safety practices and standard methodologies.
• Document all laboratory activities and maintain accurate records.
• Liaise with external laboratories for specialized testing.
• Provide technical support for environmental projects.
• Monitor inventory of laboratory supplies and materials.

Required profile

• Formal education in Environmental Science, Chemistry or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and data analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and support laboratory teams.
• Completed safety training and familiarity with safety protocols.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations applicable to mining operations.
