Contract Engineer - TOTAL Suriname Project

About the role

A Contract Engineer is required by the client, an oil and gas contractor, to be assigned on a contract basis in Paramaribo, Suriname. The position reports to the Contract and Procurement Lead of Logistics and Drilling & Wells and covers the full contracting lifecycle for Drilling & Wells Services and Marine Logistics & Offshore Support Vessels. The start date is ASAP and the duration is at least 1 year, on a rotational schedule of 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement and contracting strategies for offshore drilling and marine operations, recommend suitable contracting models and support long-term procurement planning.
• Plan and manage contracts and purchase orders in line with company rules, JV and PSC requirements and applicable laws, delivering quality, cost-effective and timely agreements and reacting quickly to operational changes.
• Take part in the affiliate's contract and procurement strategy (Master Procurement Plan, 3C) and prepare and run calls for tenders.
• Negotiate with suppliers, challenge technical and commercial optimisation, and coordinate with asset, end users, finance, HSE, legal and other stakeholders.
• Maintain supplier relationships, including KPIs, prequalification and performance monitoring, and share market intelligence.
• Ensure HSE and integrity policies are embedded in contracts and procedures, and act safely in emergencies.

Required profile

• Master's degree in procurement or an equivalent qualification.
• Advanced level in contract writing and negotiation.
• 7-10 years of professional experience in contracts within the oil and gas industry.
• Experience with rig, drilling and wells services, marine logistics and related services is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of procurement for drilling/wells and of company and group standards.
• Proficiency in oral and written English.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of C&P tools such as SAP, Ariba, Agora and Sequana.
• Planning, organisation, coordination, project management and problem-solving.
