Software Engineer – Elixir/Phoenix – Remote – Latin America

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a Software Engineer specialized in Elixir and the Phoenix framework to join its remote team serving clients across Latin America. You will work on high‑performance backend services, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and help shape the next generation of innovative applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using Elixir and Phoenix.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and fellow engineers to translate requirements into robust services.
• Own features from specification through implementation, testing and release.
• Write unit and integration tests, conduct code reviews and uphold code quality standards.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, fix bugs and continuously improve scalability and fault tolerance.
• Stay up‑to‑date with the Elixir ecosystem and industry best practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency with Elixir, Phoenix and OTP.
• Experience building RESTful (or GraphQL) APIs and working with PostgreSQL via Ecto.
• Solid understanding of concurrent and distributed systems and functional programming principles.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in an agile, collaborative environment.
